Overall today went well, thanks to all the prep yesterday. I made my breakfast in less than 5 minutes, which was like any other morning for me before class. Along with a glass of milk, I had oatmeal topped with a banana and a dash of cinnamon.
Oatmeal breakfast (left) and lentil lunch (right).
For lunch, I microwaved the lentils. Since I was at lab today, it was very convenient to do so because there was a microwave on the floor above me. I only mention that because normally I have sandwiches and don’t have to worry about finding a microwave. For dinner, I reheated the stuffed peppers. They tasted just as good as the lentils. I also soft-boiled some eggs to eat with it. Next time, I might look into adding some cheese to the bell pepper dish.
The only thing I had to throw in the trash today was, unfortunately, the little plastic pull tab from the milk carton. It took time to figure this out but, if you leave the tab on the carton, it can be recycled too. The same goes with the cap; as long as the cap is screwed on tightly, it can also be recycled. It is also important to thoroughly rinse those containers or else it may be considered contamination.
While researching, I found this website for looking up what is acceptable for curbside recycling in Ann Arbor. After typing in an item, it even has a little tip on how to go zero waste. Some tips are obvious like using paper egg cartons instead of styrofoam, but some are more unique, like bringing empty egg cartons to the farmers market for them to use.
I’m looking forward to what the rest of the week will be like!
